Every spring I buy a hyacinth bulb from the grocery store. I love observing its ever-changing state in the intimate setting of my dining nook. One year I chronicled its many stages, and this painting was also one of my first forays into gouache, a medium I enjoy for its opacity, nuanced colors, and textural potential.
